Charles Chaumin Appointed President of Suez Environnement Asia

PARIS - Charles Chaumin has been appointed President of Suez Environnement Asia and member of the Executive Committee. Based at Suez Environnement Asia Headquarters in Hong Kong, he will supervise Suez Environnement’s operations and business lines development in the region.

Charles Chaumin started his career in the Suez group in 1980 as Branch Director for Safege, a consulting engineering company. From 1993 to 1998, he assumed the responsibility of Deputy Managing Director of Aguas Argentina. In 2002, he became Vice Managing Director for Suez Environnement in South America. From 2005 to 2009, Charles Chaumin has been CEO of Ondeo Industrial Solutions, the European leader for industrial water.

Backed by a large International and European experience, Charles Chaumin has shown exceptional entrepreneurial and managerial talent and is a graduate from Ecole Polytechnique and has an engineering degree from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.

Charles Chaumin succeeds Erik de Muynck as President of Suez Environnement Asia.

Suez Environnement in China:

Suez Environnement has been present in China for 30 years, through its subsidiaries Sino-French Holdings and Sino French Water Development (SFWD), Swire SITA Waste Services and Degrémont, the world water treatment plants specialists. Sino-French Holding (created in 1985) is a 50-50 joint venture with the New World group in Hong Kong. Suez Environnement’s subsidiaries in China deliver water services to 17 Chinese municipal authorities (Chongqing, Qingdao, Sanya, Tanggu, Shanghai, Macao, etc.), representing water supply to over 14 million inhabitants.

Swire SITA Waste Services is a major player in the waste management sector in Hong Kong and Macao. In Hong Kong, Swire SITA operates WENT and NENT, two of the largest and most modern landfills in the world.

Since 2002, Suez Environnement has provided industrial water services and advanced technologies to treat industrial effluents and hazardous waste at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP), one of Asia’s largest petrochemical and industrial platforms.

Degrémont has been present in China for the past 30 years. The company has built 170 facilities with industrial clients and public authorities.
