Cuts, Cost of Living and Quality of Life Motivate a Move to France for Thousands of Brits

LONDON, October 25, 2010 - There has been a 60% increase in the number of Brits searching
for property in France over the last 12 months, with 67% of those looking to
emigrate on a permanent basis, according to a new survey* released today by
the organisers of The France Show 2011 (www.thefranceshow.com)

Respondents to the survey, carried out among prospective
buyers, estate agents and mortgage lenders, also highlighted that 70% of
buyers were making the move in the hope of achieving a better lifestyle, with
over a third (35%) saying the government's spending cuts had further
motivated them to leave the UK. 18% believe France offers far better value
for money in terms of property, with buyers having an average budget of
EUR200,000 to spend. While reduced prices and the current 'buyer's market' in
France have attracted 30% of respondents, 60% believe their overall cost of
day-to-day living will also be reduced as a result of a move to France
(rising to 83% for families with young children).

The France Show 2011 takes place at Earls Court, London from
14 to 16 January, offering visitors the chance to enjoy a flavour of France
here in the UK. The event includes The French Property Exhibition, hosting
the UK's largest selection of French specialist estate agents. With thousands
of properties on offer, it is the perfect opportunity for visitors to explore
the option of buying their dream town house, pied-à-terre, chateau or
farmhouse.

Jane Smallwood, of French property agent Agence L'Union, says:
"We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of people looking to make a
move to France since the beginning of June. Whilst property sales are on the
up, prices in France are still far lower than at the peak of the boom in
2007. This, coupled with the stronger pound, means that UK clients are
extremely well placed to secure exceptional deals."

First time buyers are also driving sales in France with nearly
one-in-four considering a property purchase overseas rather than in the UK
according to foreign currency exchange brokers, Moneycorp, who are also
exhibiting at The France Show.

Commenting on the research, The France Show Event Organiser,
Graham Lock, says: "France regularly tops the polls as both the best place to
live and the best place to holiday in Europe. The French government spends
the most on education and healthcare in Europe and its population has one of
the longest life expectancies. However, it is the overall cost of living and
more laid back lifestyle that seems to be the ultimate driving force in those
looking to make a permanent move."
