LONDON, November 30, 2010 - If you don't know what HEMA is, picture a cross between IKEA, Muji and
Woolworths and you're just about there. If you don't know who Sinterklaas is,
picture a cross between Dumbledore and Jerry Garcia with a bag full of
treats.

Now you know what both of them are you should be as excited as the Dutch
for the 2nd December, when both come to KK Outlet for a traditional Dutch
Christmas celebration.

To the Dutch, Santa Claus is known as Sinterklaas and in Dutch tradition,
he arrives at the beginning of December with his helper Piet to reward all
the well behaved children of Holland.

Sinterklaas will arrive on horseback at KK Outlet, the combined gallery,
shop and office of Amsterdam-based communications agency KesselsKramer. His
flying visit will take place on Thursday 2 December, where he will lavish
gifts on the visitors of KK Outlet at a special welcome party.

Visitors to KK Outlet are welcomed to take part in other Sinterklaas
related practices, such as leaving a spare shoe in the gallery overnight,
which on their return will be full of gifts from Sinterklaas.

As well as Sinterklaas's personal appearance there'll be an exhibition of
the best Sinterklaas related oddities, from a large wall of chocolate
typeface to the best (and most kitsch) festive designs and products provided
by HEMA.

The project was initiated by KesselsKramer and HEMA, a department store
with more than 500 outlets across Europe www.hema.nl/

Sinterklaas special event: Thursday 2 December 7-9pm

HEMA collaboration runs: 3 - 22 December

Notes to Editors:

HEMA (Hollandse Eenheidsprijzen Maatschappij Amsterdam, "Dutch Standard
Prices Company Amsterdam") is an institution in Holland. The chain is
characterized by an emphasis on original quality design of relative low
priced housewares and clothing which are made by and for the chain itself. In
recent years HEMA became a fashion icon, with Dutch celebrities starting to
wear basic t-shirts with nothing but the red 'HEMA' line on it.

Santa Claus is known the world over, but it's a little known fact that he
was brought to America by Dutch immigrants in the nineteenth century. To the
Dutch, he is known as Sinterklaas, and in Dutch tradition, he arrives at the
beginning of December with his helper Piet to reward all the well behaved
children of Holland.

The figure of Sinterklaas was then co-opted by the Coca-Cola brand and
transformed into the Santa Claus character we recognise today.
