AMSTERDAM, May 11, 2010 - Elsevier's Chemical Geology journal is celebrating the election of one of
its Editors-in-Chief, Professor Roberta Rudnick, to the National Academy of
Sciences.

Professor Rudnick is professor of geology at the University of Maryland,
College Park
, and has been an Editor-in-Chief of the Journal since 2000.
After gaining her PhD at the Australian National University, Professor Rudnick
worked as a von Humboldt Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in
Mainz, Germany, before returning to ANU as a research fellow. She then spent
6 years at Harvard University, before taking up her current role.

Her research focuses on the origin and evolution of the continents,
particularly the lower continental crust and the underlying mantle
lithosphere. It is a characteristic of Professor Rudnick's research that it
places an emphasis on the integration of data from a wide diversity of
sources, including petrography, petrology, major and trace element
geochemistry, isotope geochemistry and geophysics.

Professor Rudnick commented, "It is a great honor, I was totally taken by
surprise."

Bethan Keall, Executive Publisher for Elsevier's earth sciences journals
said, "We are proud that Professor Rudnick is part of the Chemical Geology
editorial team and we send her our warmest congratulations."

About Chemical Geology

Chemical Geology is an international journal that publishes original
research papers on the isotopic and elemental geochemistry and geochronology
of the Earth. The Journal is concerned with chemical processes in igneous,
metamorphic, and sedimentary petrology, low- and high-temperature aqueous
solutions, biogeochemistry and the environment. Papers that are field,
experimentally, or computationally based are all appropriate providing they
are of broad international interest. The Journal also welcomes innovative
papers dealing with significant analytical advances that are of wide interest
in the community and extend significantly beyond the scope of what would be
included in the methods section of a standard research paper. Chemical
Geology (www.elsevier.com/wps/find/journaldescription.cws_home/503324/
description#description) is the Official Journal of the European Association
for Geochemistry. (www.eag.eu.com/)
