CHO-Power Accelerates UK Market Penetration
CHO-Power Secures 37.5 MWe Waste and Biomass Power Plants in the UK
Europlasma announces that its 100% owned subsidiary CHO Power SAS and the Sunrise Renewables Companies have agreed to join forces to complete the development of 4 biomass and waste to power projects in the UK, for a total net power production of 37.5 MWe.
The projects are located in 4 UK Ports, Hull, Barry, Sunderland and Barrow to take advantage of both the UKs internal and external transport infrastructures. All projects have received planning permissions, grid connections are secured, feedstock and power off take contracts are being finalized with reputed local energy and biomass suppliers.
Marc Lefour, Head of CHO-Power Development, says: “Sunrise Renewables are a talented team and we are delighted to help to bring these projects to the execution phase. CHO-Power brings a bankable technology, as it demonstrated with its flagship plant in Morcenx (France).”
CHO-Power and Sunrise Renewables will propose the projects to funding, leveraging on the capacity of CHO-Power to trigger ROCs* accreditation.
Howard Davies, Sunrise Renewables Director, states: “We are glad to collaborate with CHO-Power and its proven advanced gasification technology that can take the benefit of multiple ROCs per MWh.”
Subject to the funding scheme, the first project should start construction in second half of 2012.
These projects come in addition to the project developed by Enviroparks in Hirwaun announced previously, project under RFQ phase.
*ROCs: UK Renewable Obligation Certificates granted against power produced from a renewable source that can be traded.
