First Personal Injury Warns Against Driving While Tired

MANCHESTER, England, March 29, 2010 - Accident claims (www.firstpersonalinjury.co.uk/) specialists at
First Personal Injury are warning drivers against the dangers of getting
behind the wheel when tired. Government commissioned research found that
driver tiredness accounts for up to 20% of all crashes that occur on
Britain's motorways and an estimated 300 people are killed every single year
as a result of a driver falling asleep at the wheel.
Michael Jefferies of First Personal Injury believes this a problem that
must be tackled, commenting that, "A driver who falls asleep at the wheel
cannot react to a crash and is therefore up to 50% more likely to die or
suffer serious injury. But a tired driver isn't only putting themselves at
risk. They are putting other road users and pedestrians at risk too."
Michael Jefferies hopes to see more information made readily available to
both new and experienced drivers, as he believes the issue requires the same
level of exposure that drinking driving receives. "Drink driving is all over
the media. There have been some very alarming advertising campaigns designed
to shock around the issue and they are effective. I would like to see a
similar level of exposure for driving while tired. Tiredness affects us all
at one point or another and making drivers acutely aware of the dangers of
driving when tired as well as offering information about combating the issue,
is one way of hopefully beginning to tackle it."
