Flanders Business School (Antwerp) Working Closer with Kellogg School of Management (Chicago)
By Flanders Business School, PRNETuesday, June 29, 2010
ANTWERP, Belgium, June 30, 2010 - Since 2006, MBA students at Flanders Business School(FBS) have been
required to take some of their courses at Kellogg School of Management
(Northwestern University). During their stay in Chicago, students attend
classes by, among others, the marketing professor Dipak Jain.
From October 2010, this program of lectures will be complemented by the
'Operations Management' module that will be taught exclusively for FBS
students by Prof. Jan Van Mieghem. Van Mieghem received his master`s degree
at K.U.Leuven (Belgium) and his PhD at Stanford University (US).
FBS will use the next trip as an opportunity to strengthen ties with
Sally Blount, who will start as Dean at Kellogg in July. The link between FBS
and Kellogg goes back to the beginning of the MBA program 30 years ago when
the founding committee sought the advice of this school. Since then both
schools have worked closely together.
The partnership between Flanders Business School and Kellogg School of
Management
FBS opted for an international partner in Kellogg, one of the world`s
most renowned management school. Kellogg has demonstrated strong leadership
in the field of marketing, the key area of entrepreneurship. Furthermore
Kellogg has consciously stimulated a culture of teamwork, in contrast to many
other more individually-oriented management schools. This culture is
essential when teaching entrepreneurship: without partnership, challenging
problems cannot be solved. At FBS, teamwork has been fully included in the
final qualifications and incorporated into the MBA program.
FBS is working together with Kellogg on curriculum innovation. The Global
Entrepreneurship Module was made possible because lecturers and professors
from both schools regularly visit one other. Since 2006, students have been
travelling to Chicago to follow this module. With the new agreement, this
will be complemented by the Operations Management module.
The next trip is planned for October and will last five days. Students
will follow lectures for four days and one day has been allocated for company
visits and a guided tour of Chicago.

About Flanders Business School (www.fbs.ac)
Flanders Business School (FBS) is the only school in Belgium to offer the
'Executive MBA with focus on entrepreneurship' Advanced Master`s programme.
FPS has been developing expertise in this speciality since the launch of the
course in 2000 through its research centre (ILC2) and intensive innovation
programmes in companies (Executive Education).
MBA students at FBS typically come from large corporations who guide
their high-flying employees into learning how to start new and profitable
projects within the company, from SMEs who are seeking increased growth and
from large family-owned businesses where descendents have lead the company to
expansion in the coming years.
FBS first obtained official (NVAO) accreditation for the MBA programme in
2005. The school is independent and does not rely on government subsidies.
In 2010 FBS will celebrate a double anniversary. The school has been in
existence for 10 years under its present name and form (focusing on
entrepreneurship) and has built up a 30 year tradition with the MBA course.
