LONDON, July 15, 2011 -
Going Going Bike, the UK’s leading online marketplace for buying
and selling bikes, announces that it has been selected by Team Sky
to host a charity auction to support their Tour de France Sky
Rainforest Rescue Campaign.
Team Sky’s kit, bikes, equipment and vehicles have changed from
blue to green for all 21 stages of this year’s race to help raise
awareness and support for Sky Rainforest Rescue, a three year
partnership between Sky and WWF to help
href="rainforestrescue.sky.com/what-you-can-do">protect the
rainforest and save and a billion trees in the state of Acre,
northwest Brazil.
The auction, which is currently live and closes on
28th July, will offer 13 fantastic lots including the
opportunity to win an actual bike used in the 2011 Tour de France.
The auction can be accessed at

Team Sky rider Bradley Wiggins said: “Changing to a green
strip for the Tour de France is a fantastic opportunity to draw
attention to a hugely important issue. Millions of fans
around the world will be following the Tour this summer and I hope
they join us in supporting Sky Rainforest Rescue.”
100% of all winning bids will go directly to Sky Rainforest
Rescue. Going Going Bike will not charge any commission, admin or
payment charges as part of their contribution to the cause.
As well as raising awareness amongst the Tour de France’s
millions of global fans, Team Sky also hopes to encourage donations
throughout the Grand Tour. Sky will match each donation £ for £ up
to £2million to the campaign target of £4million. Each £10
donated will help save 500 trees and with it, help to improve
people’s lives by supporting sustainable farming methods and
promote long-term conservation of the rainforest.
