GSMA Announces Nominees for Asia Mobile Awards 2009

- Winners of the Asia Mobile Awards 2009 and Mobile Innovation Grand Prix - APAC Tournament to be Announced at the Mobile Asia Congress in Hong Kong
The GSMA, which represents the interests of the worldwide mobile communications industry, today announced a shortlist of 43 nominees for the Asia Mobile Awards 2009, as well as five ‘finalists’ for the Asia-Pacific leg of this year’s Mobile Innovation Grand Prix competition. Winners for both the Asia Mobile Awards and the Mobile Innovation Grand Prix - APAC Tournament will be presented at the forthcoming GSMA Mobile Asia Congress, which is taking place in Hong Kong, China on the 18-19 November.
Judged by a panel of independent analysts, journalists and industry experts, the winners of the Asia Mobile Awards 2009 will be presented on Wednesday 18th November at the Mobile Asia Congress Networking Party and Awards Celebration at the famed Hong Kong Jockey Club. This year’s Asia Mobile Awards attracted more than 100 entries from companies providing mobile products and services that are commercially available in at least one Asian market.

Judging for the ‘Best Mobile Broadband Handset/Device’ category will take place at the Mobile Asia Congress and the winner will be announced at the event.
Mobile Innovation Grand Prix - APAC Tournament
The Mobile Innovation Grand Prix competition was created by the GSMA with the primary goal of showcasing promising entrepreneurs from small and medium-sized companies bringing innovative new products and services to market. During the APAC Tournament, presentations from the five finalists will be reviewed by a judging panel comprised of senior executives from mobile operators and venture capital firms. Two overall winners will be presented at the Mobile Asia Congress Networking Party and Awards Celebration and will win a trip to compete for the Mobile Innovation Grand Prix title, part of the GSMA’s Global Mobile Awards, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2010.
