GSMA’s Global Mobile Awards to Recognise Innovation in the Mobile Health Sector

LONDON, September 28, 2011 -

The GSMA has launched its prestigious 17th Annual Global Mobile Awards, which recognise excellence, achievement and innovation within the mobile communications industry, and will culminate in a presentation at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Tuesday 28th February, 2012.

New categories have been introduced to reflect developments and innovation across the entire mobile ecosystem, including applications, services, devices and technology, with a specific focus on innovation in the mobile health sector.

“Health is an area that is seeing incredible growth in the adoption of new devices with embedded mobile technology, allowing innovative applications such as remote monitoring,” said Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA. “We are excited that the Global Mobile Awards will honour and showcase ground-breaking mobile-based devices, services and applications that can extend the reach of health services and potentially save lives across the globe.”

Eligible entrants in this category include mobile health equipment manufacturers, mobile health solution providers, mobile network operators and chipset and module manufacturers.
