Company to Design, Build, Finance and Operate 18 Police Facilities in Ontario - Contract Volume CAD 402 Million
ESSEN, Germany, September 16, 2010 - HOCHTIEF Concessions has reached financial close for its second
public-private partnership (PPP) project in North America: Subsidiary
HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions North America has been contracted to design, build,
finance and maintain a total of 18 Provincial Police facilities in the
Canadian province of Ontario. HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions has a 50 percent stake
in the project company Shield Infrastructure Partnership. Over the 30-year
term of the agreement, the project has a contract volume of CAD 412 million.
The investment volume is CAD 117 million.
"The police facilities in Ontario represent our second PPP
contract in North America this year. So we have made a successful entry into
the market there", says Dr. Peter Noe, the HOCHTIEF Executive Board member
responsible for the HOCHTIEF Concessions corporate division. In April, the
company was already entrusted with the contract to plan, build, finance and
maintain ten schools in the Canadian province of Alberta.
Construction work on the police facilities, which are spread over
16 communities, is due to commence within the next few weeks and is scheduled
to be completed in November 2012. The scope of services includes seven police
detachments, eight forensic identification units and three regional
headquarters. The new buildings, which will replace facilities that have
exceeded their useful life, will better support the demands of modern police
operations. Once the construction measures have been concluded, the project
company will assume responsibility for maintaining the facilities for a
period of 30 years.
The new contract means that worldwide the HOCHTIEF Concessions
portfolio now comprises six airport holdings and 29 projects in the fields of
roads and social infrastructure.
