UITHOORN, The Netherlands -

- Concentrating Global Activities in Thailand Improves Customer Relations

The global headquarters of HOYA Vision Care, one of the leading developers and producers of high-quality optical lenses and eyeglasses, will be moved to Bangkok on October 1st. Also the global Quality function and part of the R&D function will be moved from Japan to Thailand. By concentrating these resources HOYA will be able to respond more quickly to changes in the global market place.

The move will benefit all customers, HOYA states.

HOYA Vision Care wants to have the global headquarters in close proximity of its five production facilities near Bangkok in order to speed up decision making processes.

By concentrating Quality and R&D functions there, HOYA expects synergy with Production leading to state-of-the-art solutions for its customers worldwide.

An additional benefit of moving the R&D function to Thailand is the possibility for HOYA to receive researching incentives from the Thai Government.

HOYA Vision Care employs nearly 5,000 people in Thailand, which represent 50% of its global workforce.

The offices and staff of HOYA Vision Care Europe, HOYA Holdings NV, as well as HOYA Lens Netherlands will remain in Uithoorn.
