Houthoff Buruma Embraces Autonomy iManage Workflow Manager to Streamline its New Client Intake Process While Complying with Relevant Dutch Regulation
CAMBRIDGE, England and SAN FRANCISCO, December 7, 2010 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in
infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that Houthoff
Buruma, one of the largest law firms in the Netherlands with offices in five
European cities, has selected Autonomy's iManage Workflow Manager to
streamline its new client intake process. Built on Autonomy's unique
meaning-based technology, the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL),
Autonomy iManage Workflow Manager enables Houthoff Buruma to automate this
traditionally cumbersome, document-centric process in a manner that is
compliant with the Dutch Prevention of Money Laundering and the Financing of
Terrorism Act.
The Act came into force in 2008 with the aim of combating money
laundering and terrorism. It requires all trading institutions in the
Netherlands, such as law firms, banks, insurers and brokers, to perform
background checks on new clients to ensure they do not have a history of such
activity. Houthoff Buruma had already deployed Autonomy's comprehensive legal
information management platform, iManage WorkSite, when it began searching
for a solution to automate its client intake process while complying with
this national legislation.
Houthoff Buruma selected Autonomy iManage Workflow Manager, the
industry's most comprehensive solution for client screening compliant with
the Dutch Prevention of Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism Act,
as the only solution capable of meeting and exceeding its requirements.
Autonomy iManage Workflow Manager offers an intelligent process automation
module with rich capabilities for streamlining business processes, such as
new client intake. Houthoff Buruma compliance experts will benefit from
visual tools, rules-based routing, real-time activity monitoring and secure
connectivity into the firm's document system. By understanding the meaning of
the information across distinct repositories and data formats, Autonomy
iManage Workflow Manager intelligently routes documents and raises alerts,
delivering improved governance and greater efficiency through time and cost
saving.
Implementing a controlled new client intake process powered by Autonomy
iManage Workflow Manager will enable Houthoff Buruma to accurately assess
potential risk, and become more efficient and consistent in its screening by
eliminating cumbersome, paper-based processes. Furthermore, the adoption of
Autonomy iManage Workflow Manager will be critical to Houthoff Buruma in the
firm's strive to offer a speedy and effective service to all eligible
clients.
"As a long-standing iManage WorkSite customer, Autonomy iManage Workflow
Manager was the logical choice for us when the need arose for a client
screening solution that is compliant with Dutch law and requires significant
interaction with our core document management system," said Anne
Wehrens-Lawson, IT Project Director at Houthoff Buruma. "The iManage Workflow
Manager integration will enable us to achieve compliance via a single,
automated and integrated platform with minimal additional investment."
"In recent years, law firms globally have been facing increasing
regulation of their processes from national and international legislation,"
commented Ian Black, Head of Global Operations at Autonomy. "Autonomy is
delighted to be able to offer Houthoff Buruma a comprehensive solution for
streamlining their client intake process in a way that is not only compliant
with the national legal requirements but also allows employees to leverage
electronic resources based on their meaning, thereby powering an intelligent
automated process."
