Marvell and NuTune Collaborate on New Hybrid NIM for European Integrated Digital Television Sets

- Marvell’s turnkey hybrid demodulator offers manufacturers the opportunity to develop low profile, low power, cost-effective products for the iDTV market.
Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL), an industry leader in storage, communications and consumer silicon solutions and NuTune, an industry leader in TV tuners, today announced the availability of a new Hybrid Network Interface Module (NIM) design for reception of Digital Video Broadcasting - Cable (DVB-C), Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB-T) and Analog TV signals. The NuTune Hybrid NIM, designed for terrestrial and cable reception, features a low profile, low power multi-standard (DVB-C, DVB-T, NTSC/PAL/SECAM) Marvell(R) 88DE8020 hybrid demodulator, large RF dynamic range and significant margins in NORDIG 2.0, D-Book v5 and E-Book standards, excellent Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), low RF sensitivity and over-modulation tolerance for analog TV signals.

RF signals from either terrestrial or cable network is tuned with the field proven NuTune TD1318AF tuner and Intermediate Frequency (IF) signals are fed to the single chip hybrid demodulator, Marvell 88DE8020 - together to output MPEG digital stream or composite video with Sound Intermediate Frequency (SIF).
