VIENNA, Austria, February 17, 2010 - The "New Cosmetic Surgery" Journalism Prize will be awarded by the Clinic
DDr. Heinrich for outstanding reporting on New Cosmetic Surgery techniques.
The contribution should be well-researched, with emphasis on general
legal requirements and the interdisciplinary aspects of cosmetic surgery.
Cosmetic surgery is not taught in public hospitals, but in private medical
institutions and associations such as the American Academy of Cosmetic
Surgery. It is open to competent practitioners in any medical specialty
worldwide.
New Cosmetic Surgery employs gentle techniques from all branches of
medicine (surgery, internal medicine, dermatology) and has thus developed
into an interdisciplinary cosmetic and rejuvenation therapy. Main pillars
include autologous stem cells, Hormonal Regeneration(R) with bioidentical
hormones, and minimally invasive cosmetic interventions such as microcannular
liposuction. The techniques of New Cosmetic Surgery should be presented in
layperson's terms.
The contribution must be written in German, English, French, or Spanish,
and have been published in a print medium or broadcasted on radio or
television for the first time between 1 March 2010 and 30 September 2010.
Contributions from electronic media, commentaries, books, and mere news
rehashes will not be considered.
Editors and reporters from all nations are eligible. The Clinic DDr.
Heinrich Journalism Prize comes with a EUR 3,000 endowment, and will be
awarded for a single contribution. The winner will be notified by e-mail.
A closed panel of medical, journalism, and legal experts will choose the
winner. The panel reserves the right to exclude individual contributions at
its discretion. Panel decisions are binding and may not be appealed.
