SINGAPORE - ICIS pricing, the world’s leading price reporting service for the global chemical industry, has launched a new weekly price report for polyethylene (PE) pipe grade resins covering the Middle East and South Asia. The report arrives at a time of growth in the use of PE pipe grade in water supply and irrigation, and delivery of oil and gas.

The report covers two industry-grade high density polyethylene (HDPE)-based pipe resins: natural (PE80) for non-pressurised applications and black compounded (PE100) for pressurised applications. Price assessments include CFR Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), CFR East Mediterranean and CFR India, as well as news commentary.

“Demand for plastic pipes globally is forecast to increase to 18.2 million tonnes by 2012. Industry players expect consumption of plastic pipe grade in India, Pakistan and the Middle East to grow by 20% from 2008 levels, with the main push coming from the water supply and ducting segments,” said ICIS Deputy Managing Editor-Asia, Prema Viswanathan.

Price hikes in alternative materials such as metals have led to a sharp increase in demand for PE pipe grade resins. This is most notably due to the enhanced properties and inexpensive installation costs of PE pipes.

The new report brings exclusive transparency to the PE pipe grade resin market with insightful commentary and vital price assessments.
