DUBLIN, September 7, 2010 - Now in its third year the Dublin Oktoberfest opens its doors in George's
Dock, IFSC, in Docklands. From September 29th to October 10th you can enjoy
fresh Erdinger Beer, traditional Bavarian food and German "Gemütlichkeit"
(the well known traditional Bavarian flair with laughter and an all-round
cosy atmosphere). "Oans, zwoa - gsuffa"- which means "one, two - let's
drink!" is available daily from 11 a.m. through to 1 a.m., Saturdays from
10 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Every night the "Mostlandstürmer", an original Bavarian Band invites you
to join in the sing song and to "schunkel", (where you link arms and sway
from side to side to the music). Thirty beautiful Munich waitresses will
serve fresh beer in the typical one and a half litre steins called Masskrug.
In addition they will be serving "Leberkas", a slice of delicious cooked
meat, "Sauerkraut", "Bratwurst" (fried sausage), "Wiesenhendl" (barbeque
chicken) and "Karoffelpuffer" (potato pancakes) as well as various non
alcoholic drinks.
Entrance is free on all days until 10 pm, when visitors must buy a
wristband which entitles them to a voucher for a "substantial meal".
The Oktoberfest in Munich is the most famous German folk festival and one
of the biggest in the world. It celebrates its 200th anniversary this year.
Each year over 6 million people travel from all over the world to enjoy
themselves on the "Wiesn".
The Irish version of the festival has been very successful over the past
few years. In 2009 over 40,000 guests attended in the big beer marquee in the
Dublin Docklands and experienced Bavarian customs and the Bavarian art of
brewery.
