HAMBURG, Germany - Bigpoint.com is the Exclusive Publisher for Universal Pictures’ Online Games for Such hit Movies as “Wanted”, “The Fast and the Furious” and “The Terminator”
Bigpoint (bigpoint.com) has now been selected to publish the online games for three of Universal Pictures’ major blockbusters: the browser games “Wanted”, “The Fast and the Furious” and “The Terminator” will be exclusively available at Bigpoint.com. These games represent the perfect strategic opportunity for Bigpoint to unite the synergies between the movie/entertainment industry and the online games industry: With more than 70 million registered users in Europe and the USA, Bigpoint is the world’s largest portal for browser games.
In June 2008 the American Media Network NBC and the Private Equity Fund GMT bought a majority share in Bigpoint - a developer and publisher of online games. 30% of the company still belongs to the founder and CEO of the company, Heiko Hubertz.
“After the involvement of NBC in the company last year, we’re going to integrate online games for their major blockbusters into our portal,” says Heiko Hubertz, CEO Bigpoint GmbH. “The close cooperation with NBC Universal allows us to tap into this new market potential and bring these Hollywood hits to life for millions of gamers to play online.”
Info about the games “Wanted”, “The Fast and the Furious” and “The Terminator”
The browser game Wanted at bigpoint.com/games/wanted is a strategy-based game inspired by the Hollywood hit with Angela Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy. Based on the plot of Wanted, players take on the role as professional hit men in the game. The goal of the game is to use your brains and brawn to complete dangerous missions.
At the end of June, another action-packed browser game for the Universal hit The Fast and the Furious will join the Bigpoint family of games on their official website. Players will be swept away into the fast-paced world of illegal street racing and experience never-ending speed contests that last all night. The mission in this exciting game is to leave your challengers eating the dust from your pimped-up car.
The browser game for the cult film The Terminator is also in development at the moment. The game, based on the blockbuster starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, will be released at the end of 2009.
All these games are being developed by the Swedish-based company Studio Stillfront AG which was founded in 2007 and specializes in the development of online and browser games.
