RISI Appoints Two to Senior Economic Analysis Roles

RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry, today announced from its 24th annual North American Forest Products Conference in San Diego, the addition of two industry leaders to its economic analysis ranks. Rod Young, former RISI CEO and current Chairman, assumes the newly created role of Chief Economic Advisor, responsible for overseeing the quality and accuracy of all RISI economic analysis products. Lynn Michaelis, a 35-year veteran of Weyerhauser, where he held the position of Chief Economist and VP of Marketing & Economic Research will be contributing to RISI’s North American Housing, Macroeconomic Forecasts, and available to RISI clients for unique scenario modeling on the market recovery.

Rod Young has remained an active contributor to RISI’s forecasts since stepping down as RISI’s CEO and being named Chairman in 2007. Rod, a founding member of RISI, has 29 years of experience tracking and reporting on the global pulp and paper markets. In his new role, Rod will be responsible for ensuring that all RISI’s economic analysis meets or exceeds the industries expectation for excellence and accuracy.

Lynn Michaelis, joins RISI as a regular contributor to its North American Housing and Macroeconomic forecasts and analysis. Lynn has over 35 years of experience, mostly with Weyerhauser, where he and his team of professional economists were responsible for providing key decision makers with objective insights on changing market conditions critical to operating and strategic decisions. In addition to this housing and macroeconomic work, he will be available to RISI clients interested in performing analysis, scenarios, and modeling broader than the traditional RISI scope.
