LONDON, July 7, 2011 -
Tribal, the UK’s trusted supplier of student administration
systems to over 250 universities and colleges around the world,
have recently signed a number of high profile contracts across the
Australasia education sector. The University of Queensland (UQ),
Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) and nine New Zealand
institutes of technology/polytechnics (ITPs) have appointed Tribal
to help make complex, time-consuming student administration
processes a thing of the past.
The University of Queensland’s Executive Director of Operations
Maurie McNarn, welcomed the news: “This new system will help the
university meet the current and future demands of its admissions
process from students across Australia and from all over the world.
It will also help staff manage enquiries for research programmes,
which is of growing strategic importance to UQ.”
Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) in Auckland are one of New
Zealand’s largest ITPs, will use the system to increase
functionality, improve integration with existing systems and to
redesign MIT processes against best practice models. MIT’s Director
of Strategy and Planning said: “We also believe that the system
solution and module configuration we have selected from Tribal is
the most appropriate system for MIT over the next decade”.
Additionally, Tertiary Accord New Zealand (TANZ), a group of
seven polytechnics that collaborate on many aspects of their work,
have also selected Tribal’s platform as the preferred student
management system for all seven member polytechnics as part of a
mission to reduce costs. Three of the TANZ members will implement
Tribal’s student management system (SMS) during the next 12 months
with others committing to implement Tribal’s SMS should they decide
to replace their existing systems.
Tony Gray, TANZ Convenor and Chief Executive for Nelson
Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) said: “After careful
consideration, and a thorough evaluation process, Tribal was
selected as a preferred partner to work with TANZ and each member
institution. The new system meets the collective requirements of
all seven institutions, and its automated and streamlined processes
will help our staff efficiently meet the significant demands
involved in student management”.
Tribal’s Chief Operating Officer, Keith Evans, said: “We are
delighted to have been chosen and look forward to supporting the
University of Queensland, Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) and
Tertiary Accord New Zealand (TANZ), with the systems they have
selected.”
UQ plans to have preliminary functionality in place by Q3 2011
with the initial emphasis on post graduate coursework students. MIT
and the first three members of the TANZ group will go live with
Tribal’s system in the coming months.
