Ziehm Imaging won a Major Order for C-arms Worth Millions of Euros From Germany's Federal Armed Forces. Delivery and Installation of the one Hundred Plus Mobile X-Ray Units started in September.
NUREMBERG, Germany, October 4, 2010 - Ziehm Imaging won an international tender for 110 mobile x-ray systems
(C-arms) from the Federal Armed Forces in Germany. These C-arms will be
utilized worldwide by the Federal Armed Forces in operating rooms located in
field hospitals, navy ships and regular hospitals. The Federal Armed Forces
have ordered 20 C-arms with 3D functionality and the latest digital
flat-panel technology (Ziehm Vision FD Vario 3D) plus 90 modular C-arms
(Ziehm Solo), which Ziehm Imaging has exclusively modified at the request of
the Federal Armed Forces.
The Federal Armed Forces set the highest of demands on mobile imaging
technology used in the field. Besides reliability and technological
capabilities, robustness and mobility are key requirements. In May 2010, the
Forces decided to cooperate long-term with Ziehm Imaging as the technological
superiority of Ziehm Imaging C-arms and their individual design concept are
the perfect match for the specific needs of the Federal Armed Forces.
Modular x-ray units for air transportation and navy use
The Ziehm Solo C-arm is extremely easy to transport as it can be rolled
and taken apart. Thanks to its easy and clear design concept, Ziehm Solo can
be stored in four portable boxes. This allows it to be used in inaccessible
regions, making this innovative x-ray unit perfect for challenging civil and
humanitarian deployments. Developed in close coordination with the Federal
Armed Forces, this C-arm is also ideal for German navy frigates.
First-class imaging with smallest footprint
The 20 Ziehm Vision FD Vario 3D units support intraoperative imaging with
3D reconstructions and deliver volume renderings of the bone structures which
cannot be displayed with conventional C-arms. In addition to the 3D imaging
capacity, a 30% reduction in footprint relative to other 3D systems makes
these C-arms especially suited to the needs of the Federal Armed Forces.
Ziehm Imaging's systems have the advantage of quick availability of 2D and 3D
data during the operation, thus ensuring optimal treatment across a broad
application spectrum.
"It is not only the Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr), who contributed
valuable design input, that stand to benefit from the Ziehm Solo," says Klaus
Hoerndler, CEO of Ziehm Imaging. "Other aid organizations such as the Red
Cross will also be able to use this dismountable x-ray unit in future. We are
convinced that this innovation will make an important contribution to the
best possible medical care of the sick and injured in difficult-to-access
conflict and disaster areas. And we are pleased that the Federal Armed Forces
have shown their trust in our expertise and the technological superiority of
our C-arms."
