SAO PAULO -

- Acision Increases its Investment in the LatAm Region to Meet the Needs of Carriers and Introduce Solutions to Help Them Increase Revenues

Acision, the world’s leading messaging company, today announces the appointment of Rafael Steinhauser as Senior Vice President and General Manager for Latin America, based in Acision’s Sao Paulo office. In this newly created role, Rafael Steinhauser will drive the company’s growth across the region and have responsibility for sales, marketing, business development and operations. Rafael Steinhauser’s appointment is part of Acision’s increased investment in Latin America and its focus to support local carriers.

With more than 25 years’ experience working for technology and telecommunication businesses, Rafael Steinhauser brings a wealth of expertise to Acision as former president of Cisco and Nortel in Brazil, as well as CxO at NextWave, Vesper, Qualcomm, Eutelsat, Siemens and Alcatel. In his new role, Rafael Steinhauser will build upon Acision’s existing partnerships with local carriers, create new relationships and market Acision’s solutions across messaging, mobile broadband, mobile marketing and charging.

Rory Buckley, Chief Executive of Acision, comments: “We believe the market opportunity in Latin America is significant for us, especially with the introduction of new mobile technologies, and we hope to attain increased growth in this region during our new fiscal year starting in July. With Rafael Steinhauser’s extensive experience in driving sales and growing businesses, we are confident that we can build on the success we have already had in this region, achieve our growth objectives across Latin America and explore new market opportunities.”

Rafael Steinhauser, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Latin America, Acision, says “With the recent launch of 3G networks in Latin America there will be a significant increase in the adoption of mobile broadband and value added services. It is, therefore, important that Acision is ready to help carriers address the business opportunities and solve the communication challenges they will experience today and in the future.

“In addition, the uptake of text messaging is still low in the region, in particular in Brazil, where only eight text messages are sent per user per month compared to other Latin American countries where this number reaches 45 and 83 worldwide. This shows there is still a huge potential for growth in SMS services for Acision, especially with the addition of A2P (application 2 person) services to the traditional P2P (person to person) messaging. My principle role at Acision will be to develop strategies to help operators encourage further adoption of data services. I am thrilled Acision has chosen me to drive its business forward in this important and exciting market,” continued Steinhauser.
