Aguas de Mondariz’ presence at this show, with its own stand, is intended to establish new commercial contacts that will enable it to expand its distribution network on the African continent, where it already markets its products in countries like Angola, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde and Sierra Leone.
Aguas de Mondariz is present in 27 countries in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia, where it markets both glass bottles (750 ml for table consumption and 330 for individual consumption) and PET. It also has a premium water, Elite by Mondariz, which just received an award in Brussels from the International Taste and Quality Institute as one of the world’s best waters.
This distinction is in addition to the many international recognitions that Aguas Mondariz has received since the brand was created in 1873. In its 136 years of history, Aguas de Mondariz was the purveyor to the Spanish Royal Household through several reigns and participated in eleven universal expositions.
Mondariz comes from a spring located in an area which the European Union considers a special protected area for its natural values. These are very old waters, having spent between 80 and 150 years in the aquifer; they spring forth year-round at a constant temperature of 16.5 degrees centigrade.
In 2008, Aguas de Mondariz achieved sales of 20 million Euros with the distribution of 98 million litres of water, which were marketed in 140 million containers.
