Aleris Names Bihary Vice President, Communications

BEACHWOOD, Ohio, July 26, 2010 - Aleris International, Inc. today named Kristen M. Bihary vice president,
Communications, effective immediately. Bihary will have global responsibility
for the company's internal, external, digital and marketing communications,
and brand and reputation management.

Most recently, Bihary was founder and president, Vyll Corporation, a
communications and marketing consultancy serving business owners and chief
executives. Prior to starting Vyll, she was Eaton Corporation's chief
communications officer. Before that, she held communications leadership
positions at Shell Chemicals, Varity Corporation, Johnson & Johnson and the
Cleveland Clinic.

"Kristen's background and qualifications make her a valuable addition to
our team," said Steve Demetriou, Aleris chairman and chief executive officer.
"Her experience leading communications for a wide range of business issues,
opportunities and transactions will serve Aleris well as our company
continues to grow."

Bihary received a B.A. from Case Western Reserve University and is an
active community volunteer, having served more than 15 arts, civic and
human-service organizations. She is a member of the Arthur W. Page Society,
and has served in leadership roles with that organization and other
professional associations.
