Christopher M. Crane Elected a Director of Aleris International, Inc. and Aleris Holding Company

BEACHWOOD, Ohio, September 8, 2010 - Aleris International, Inc. announced today that Christopher M. Crane, 51,
has been elected to its Board of Directors and to the Board of Directors of
Aleris Holding Company, Aleris's parent. Aleris Holding Company is majority
owned by certain investment funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P.
or their subsidiaries.

Crane is president and chief operating officer of Exelon Corporation, one
of the largest electric companies in the United States, and president, Exelon
Generation, the nation's largest owner/operation of nuclear power plants, and
the holder of one of America's largest portfolios of electricity generation
capacity. He joined Exelon (then ComEd) in 1998 and was named chief nuclear
officer in 2004. In 2007 he assumed additional responsibility for Exelon's
fossil, hydro and renewals facilities. Prior to Exelon, Crane served as
Browns Ferry Nuclear site vice president for the Tennessee Valley Authority,
and worked in new plant start-up at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Plant in Texas
and Palo Verde Nuclear Plant in Arizona.

Crane studied at New Hampshire Technical College and attended Harvard

directors of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations and the Foundation for
Nuclear Studies. He is on the executive committee of the Nuclear Energy
Institute and is the chairman of the World Nuclear Association.
