CargoCity South Success Story Continues

Two Weeks Remaining for "Expression of Interest" in FRA's New Airfreight Development Area
FRANKFURT, September 27, 2010 - Frankfurt Airport's (FRA) CargoCity South will be expanded by
27 hectares in the coming years. At the end of August, Frankfurt Airport's
owner and manager Fraport AG issued a worldwide "Call for Expression of
Interest" — inviting the logistics industry to specify its locational and
space requirements. This Expression of Interest (EOI) will expire on October
15.
"The unique CargoCity South success story is ongoing. Our
invitation for an EOI has generated significant response," said Herbert Mai,
Fraport executive board member responsible for real estate. "Airfreight
traffic is booming once again. The market needs new individual and customized
development sites and we wish to meet this demand," he stressed. The enormous
interest which the project is receiving from the industry confirms Fraport is
on the right track with its expansion plans and concept. "We have already
received inquiries from about two dozen companies, mostly businesses that
have resided at FRA for many years, as well as from new customers," explained
Mai.
Project planning for approximately 30,000 square meters of
hall space - about one third of the new development area - will be
implemented in the first phase. The construction sites offer maximum
variability in terms of size and shape, allowing freight halls from 3,000 to
25,000 square meters to be planned, explained Mai. The new CargoCity South
expansion area is equivalent in size to about 35 football fields. It can
accommodate logistics buildings with a total hall space of about 100,000
square meters, plus office and parking space. The first third of the
expansion area will come on stream between 2013 and 2014.
