Debenhams Announces Sales of Royal Doppelganger Ring are Soaring
By Debenhams, PRNETuesday, November 30, 2010
LONDON, December 1, 2010 - Debenhams has announced that sales of a dress ring have sky rocketed due
to uncanny likeness to the royal version, following the announcement of
Wills' and Kate's engagement last week.
Although the department store's version is a slightly different hue
compared to Kate's engagement ring, it is identical in every other way except
from the price - it is currently on sale for GBP6.
The stone cluster ring has been one of the department store's best
selling styles for two seasons but has seen a massive 312% boost as customers
identify it as very similar to the royal engagement ring.
Carie Barkhuizen, Debenhams PR manager, commented: "Even though it's a
slightly different colour, this regal ring is sure to have a long and
successful purple reign. It's clear that our customers want to feel like a
princess for a fraction of the price - and for GBP6 it's a royal bargain.
"We are monitoring sales this week. If the ring continues to sell as it
has over the last week, we will be looking to increase stock levels in the
run up to Christmas."
The Vicenza ring is made from coloured glass surrounded by diamantes.
Following the engagement announcement, Debenhams buyers were flung into
frantic planning sessions to develop commemorative product in time for the
royal wedding.
Carie Barkhuizen continued: "Kate and William's wedding will be a special
day for the country and the world. All of our departments including home,
lingerie and women's wear are considering ways to mark the occasion."
