Elsevier and Brain Mapping Foundation Co-Host 6th Annual World Congress of IBMISPS on Brain Mapping and Image Guided Therapy

AMSTERDAM - Program Focuses on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as Well as Other Neurological Disorders

Elsevier, the world-leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products and services and Brain Mapping Foundation, announced today that it will Co-host the 6th Annual World Congress for Brain Mapping and Image Guided Therapy, August 26-29, 2009 at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.

The International Brain Mapping and Intraoperative Surgical Planning Society’s (IBMISPS) annual world congress aims to break boundaries in science, technology, medicine and healthcare policy with presentations and exhibitions from pioneering leaders in a range of disciplines.

Kern Medical Center is the CME provider and co-sponsor of the annual IBMISPS World Congress (www.ibmisps-worldcongress.org), which is a multi-disciplinary forum designed to facilitate cross-disciplinary dissemination of technological and medical advances and scientific discovery among physicians, scientists, biotechnologists, engineers, policy makers and healthcare executives.

This year’s event will also be accessible via virtual conference and podcast. Due to requests for late submissions the deadline for abstracts and paper submission has been extended to April 30, 2009.

Congress sessions range from basic translational research and multidisciplinary clinical practice and surgery, to healthcare policy, neuroMarketing and neuroeconomics, including: brain mapping, image guided therapy/surgery, multi-modality imaging, biophotonics, healthcare policy, FDA regulations, bioethics, biomedical, chemical and materials engineering, neuroscience, bioinformatics and grid technology, physiology, stem-cell therapy, imaging guided drug delivery, and operating rooms and hospitals of the future, stereotactic radiosurgery, human brain computer interface, brain implants, Spine of the future and spine instrumentation and nanomedicine, virtual reality neurosurgery and electronic nose for sniffing cancers.

To supplement a number of invited keynote speakers, multiple oral and poster presentations will be selected from the call for papers. Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Principal military advisor to the President of the United States, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council is tentatively scheduled for a presentation.
