Frost & Sullivan to Host Analyst Briefing on Emissions Reductions on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 3:00pm BST
LONDON, May 27, 2010 - Western European OEMs have been racing to develop smaller and more
efficient engines in order to meet the stringent emission norms set for 2012.
The legislation mandating limits on CO2 emissions from motor vehicles has
forced vehicle manufacturers in the region to downsize engines and, at the
same time, adopt methods to overcome the resultant loss in power.

To provide unique insights into the different aspects of engine
downsizing, the challenges involved in engine downsizing and strategies
adopted by Western European OEMs, the Automotive & Transportation Group at
Frost & Sullivan (www.transportation.frost.com) is pleased to announce
that it will be hosting an online analyst briefing presentation on Thursday,
10 June, 2010 at 3:00 pm BST.
This briefing will benefit vehicle manufacturers, powertrain engineering
companies and suppliers.
Highlights of the briefing include analysis of the average engine
displacements of gasoline and diesel engines, comparative analysis of the
downsizing trends and also the key strategies adopted for engine downsizing
by OEMs in Western Europe.
"The increasing shift towards downsizing in gasoline engines will help
reduce CO2 emissions. These engines are likely to follow the same trend that
diesel engines did 6-7 years ago. However, diesel engine downsizing is
expected to slow down in the future due to the increasing concern to reduce
NOx emissions for Euro 6 compliance," says Arif Basheer, Research Analyst at
Frost & Sullivan's Automotive & Transportation Practice.
