RICHARDSON, Texas and BURLINGTON, Massachusetts -

- Partnership reduces cost, time-to-market and time-to-revenue in delivering legacy voice and messaging over 4G and Rich Communication Suite services over 3G

Mavenir Systems, provider of innovative mobile convergence solutions, and Acme Packet(R) (Nasdaq: APKT), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced a reseller agreement that enables the delivery of all of today’s mobile services and new interactive communication services over 2G, 3G and IP-based 4G mobile broadband access networks. The agreement enables Mavenir to combine its Converged Voice and Messaging solutions with Acme Packet’s Net-Net(R) session border controllers (SBCs) to significantly reduce the development costs, time-to-market and time-to-revenue for voice, mobility and rich communications services delivered over fixed and mobile broadband networks. This partnership is currently supporting two Tier 1 mobile service provider customers in Europe and North America.

Mavenir’s Mobile VoIP solution extends Mobile Switching Center (MSC) voice, intelligent network (IN) and Short Message Service (SMS), as IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) application servers to offer services consistently across multiple broadband access domains. This eliminates the need for an overlay voice over IP (VoIP) core with potential service parity gaps, accelerating the time-to-market. The combination of Acme Packet SBCs and Mavenir’s Converged Voice solutions also frees service providers from deploying media gateways for networks equipped with 3GPP Release 4 MSCs, reducing the cost and complexity of their networks significantly.

Mavenir’s Rich Communications Suite (RCS) solution, combined with Acme Packet’s Proxy Call Session Control Function (P-CSCF) solution, allows service providers to build global mobile social networks around a powerful set of building blocks-subscriber management, presence, instant messaging, web 2.0 services aggregation and media sharing. Presence fuels revenue-generating services such as enhanced address book, messaging, media sharing, gaming and voice services for both consumer and enterprise users.

Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs connect 3G and 4G mobile subscribers to IMS SIP-based services and applications including voice, messaging, interactive video, gaming and video. In this partnership, these services are delivered from Mavenir mOneTM Convergence Platform. In IMS deployments, Acme Packet SBCs integrate the P-CSCF for SIP signaling control, an Access Border Gateway Function for media control and a Security Front-End Function for both signaling and media. They provide the critical controls to deliver high-quality interactive communications-voice, video and multimedia sessions-and streaming video across 3G and 4G LTE and WiMAX access network borders. At interconnect borders, Acme Packet’s SBCs enable the seamless exchange of VoIP and IMS services across service provider boundaries, reducing costs and enabling new interactive communications requiring end-to-end IP connectivity. Acme Packet’s SBC control functions satisfy requirements in five major areas-security, service reach maximization, service level agreement (SLA) assurance, revenue and cost optimization and regulatory compliance.

“For next-generation technologies such as LTE to be competitive, they must be as cost-competitive as they are innovative,” said Payam Maveddat, Mavenir’s Vice President of Product Management and Partnerships. “Our relationship with Acme Packet directly addresses that need by giving operators a powerful suite of solutions for controlling CAPEX and OPEX. Those savings free up capital and resources to develop the innovative services that grab market share from incumbents and drive sustainable revenue.”

“Our partnership with Mavenir offers an extremely compelling approach for delivering voice and messaging services over mobile IP broadband access networks,” said Seamus Hourihan, Acme Packet’s Vice President of Marketing and Product Management. “Our joint solution provides service providers with the level of service consistency, cost-effectiveness and control required for success.”
