Murphy&Spitz Green Capital Sells Stake In Rapunzel Naturkost
By Murphyspitz Green Capital Aktiengesellschaft, PRNEMonday, June 21, 2010
BONN, Germany, June 22, 2010 - Rapunzel Naturkost turned out to be a highly profitable investment for
Murphy&Spitz Green Capital AG. There was a sustainable rise in revenue and
profit. The exit was a management buyout.
Rapunzel Naturkost AG has shown continual development since Murphy&Spitz
Green Capital's investment. The company was able to raise its revenues and
net profit by roughly 27% and 30%. In fiscal year 2009, the company's revenue
reached a record level of EUR 107.1 million. Net profit growth amounted to a
solid 29% increase. In addition, Rapunzel Naturkost roughly halved its bank
debts to only EUR 13.5 million.
Decisive factors for the investment in Rapunzel Naturkost were the strong
brand acceptance by consumers and the dynamic growth prospects of the company
and the organic food industry as a whole.
Looking back, the industry and the company were relatively unaffected by
the financial and economic crises and fulfilled the trust placed in them. The
German organic food market had double-digit growth in 2009 and in the first
quarter 2010 growth was 9.1%, surpassing even the highest expectations.
Rapunzel Naturkost's successful development makes further growth investment
unnecessary. Therefore, Murphy&Spitz Green Capital sold its stake in Rapunzel
Naturkost via a management buyout.
The 36-month investment resulted in a total yield of 82%, beating the
original assumptions.
"Rapunzel Naturkost is an established company in the organic food sector.
The acceptance and awareness of the Rapunzel brand was built up with a
dedicated approach to quality. This allows Rapunzel Naturkost to operate from
an extraordinarily strong market position in domestic and foreign markets.
Our investment has set the course for further success and created the
conditions for our exit", said Andrew Murphy, CEO of Murphy&Spitz Green
Capital, about the deal.
