Noront Resources Appoints Chief Executive Officer

Noront Resources Ltd. (”Noront” or the “Company”) (TSX Venture: NOT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Wesley (Wes) C. Hanson, P.Geo, as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Company, effective June 22, 2009. At that time, both Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Parisotto who have been jointly acting as Interim co-Chief Executive Officers since October, 2008 will step down and remain as Directors of the Company.
Mr. Hanson was formerly Vice President Mine Development for Western Goldfields, before the recent announcement of its business combination with New Gold Inc. and he previously held the position of Vice President, Technical Services for Kinross Gold Corporation. Mr. Hansen has held several senior positions in the mining industry throughout his 25 year career, where he has been directly involved in the engineering construction and commissioning of numerous mining projects in Canada, the US, Brazil, Chile and Russia. Mr. Hanson has a Bachelor of Science, Geology from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada.
