FARMINGTON, Connecticut, August 10, 2010 - Otis Elevator Company will provide 88 energy-efficient elevators,
escalators and moving walkways to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX),
the world's busiest origin and destination airport. Otis, a unit of United
Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), will also maintain the new units for five
years.

"Otis is honored that one of the world's most prominent airports is
relying on our energy-efficient products to reduce energy consumption," said
Otis President Didier Michaud-Daniel. "Our advanced technology will be
integral in providing safe and reliable transportation solutions to the
airport's millions of travelers each year."

Otis equipment was selected for the Bradley West project, a major
modernization effort at LAX's Tom Bradley International Terminal. This
terminal is LAX's primary facility with nearly 30 airlines operating in the
terminal today. Last year, the airlines at the Tom Bradley International
Terminal served more than 8.6 million international travelers, or more than
half of LAX's 15.1 million international passenger volume. The Bradley West
project is the biggest public works project in Los Angeles' history and is
scheduled for completion in December 2012.

"Getting passengers safely and quickly to their boarding gates and
baggage claim areas via energy-efficient, reliable elevators and walkways
will be an integral part of the world-class facility being built for the
future enjoyment of the traveling public," said Michael Doucette, Chief
Airport Planner at Los Angeles International Airport.

The Bradley West project is designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building
Council (USGBC). LEED is the USGBC's rating system for designing and
constructing the world's greenest, most energy-efficient, and high performing
buildings. Worldwide, Otis products have been selected for many prominent
energy-efficient buildings including 7 World Trade Center in New York City,
Tour Granite in Paris, New Songdo City in Incheon, Korea, and 400 George
Street in Queensland, Australia.

Otis will provide 40 energy-efficient Gen2(R) elevators, which reduce
energy consumption by up to 50 percent compared to conventional systems. The
Gen2 system uses Otis' patented flat, polyurethane-coated steel belts and a
permanent-magnet gearless machine and does not require any additional
lubrication, making it cleaner for the environment.

Otis will also provide 38 escalators and 10 moving walkways, which are
equipped with energy-saving technology to reduce operating speeds during
periods when there are no passengers. In addition, the escalators and moving
walkways will operate using a high-efficiency lubrication system that reduces
oil consumption by up to 90 percent.

"We are proud to apply our extensive expertise and experience with
large-scale infrastructure projects while delivering the solutions and
high-quality products required to meet the needs of this prominent
transportation center," said Randy Wilcox, President, Otis North and South
America Area
.
