Scotland Celebrates Excellent Links With China at Shanghai World Expo 2010

EDINBURGH, Scotland, July 2, 2010 - Unique performances and interactive experiences will showcase Scotland in
China at the Shanghai World Expo 2010, an event expected to attract 70
million visitors, as a great place to visit, live and work, learn, do
business and invest in.

In Shanghai EXPO Park, China, visitors can enjoy a range of events:
Around the 'Seed Cathedral' at the UK Pavilion, between 2 - 8 July,
award-winning Scottish company, Kommando, will use innovative digital
technologies to capture imaginations and highlight Scotland as a distinct,
vibrant and creative nation.
Watch short films about Scotland on overhead digital screens - the never
seen before Generation 2 NomadiX. From digital gaming to Edinburgh Festivals
(www.scotland.cn/shanghaiexpo/arts) and golf, there's lots to discover
about Scotland (www.scotland.cn/).
Have an instant photo taken by a PixAngel. Later, download photos from an
online gallery at www.scotland.cn/shanghaiexpo, or send an e-card,
upload to social networking sites and share with friends.
The Kommando team will wear exclusive China Tartan mini-kilts and skinny
jeans designed by Tartan Spirit designer Joyce Young.

Around the 'Seed Cathedral' at the UK Pavilion in July, two of Scotland's
leading contemporary choreographers, Janis Claxton and Alan Greig, will
present unique works as part of the Dance Links China project.
Janis Claxton's Human Animal Shanghai is an intriguing comment on human
behaviour that takes place inside and around a Perspex box.
Alan Greig, artistic director of X Factor Dance Company, will perform a
collage of athletic, provocative and entertaining pieces adapted from his
solo show 'Into the Light', first performed at the 2009 Shanghai Dance
Festival.
At the Europe Square Stage on 5 July, award-winning Scottish band
Skerryvore will perform soul-gripping songs with funky rhythms fused with
bagpipes, fiddle and accordions.
