MADRID - The Brattle Group, a global economic consulting firm, announced today that it has expanded its international presence with the establishment of a new office in Madrid, Spain. The Madrid office will be led by Dr David Robinson, a principal of Brattle and an expert in competition, regulation and corporate strategy in energy and other regulated industries.

Brattle’s expansion into Spain allows the firm to combine economic expertise with insight into local and regional complexities to better assist clients throughout the European Union. The economists working in the new Madrid office will assist law firms, governments and companies in matters relating to antitrust and competition, commercial damages and valuation, international arbitration and litigation, and regulation. Their industry expertise will include energy and the environment, financial institutions, telecommunications and transportation.

Dr Robinson is a recognised architect of liberalisation in Europe and he advises governments and corporations on public policy and corporate strategy in infrastructure sectors. Working alongside Dr Robinson is Dr Jose Antonio Garcia, a senior economist at Brattle. Dr Garcia has expertise in antitrust and competition, market structure, restructuring policy and regulatory strategy formulation in network industries, with special emphasis on energy markets.

Brattle Chairman Paul Carpenter noted, “The continued expansion of our network of offices and staff across the EU allows us to better serve our local clients in Spain and further enhance the geographic scope and relevance of our analyses. Europe continues to be an important growth area for the firm, and adding a physical presence in Spain will be a great benefit to our clients worldwide.”

The addition of a Madrid office broadens the firm’s presence in Europe, where Brattle has offices in London and Brussels and a growing presence in Rome. In the United States, Brattle has offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Washington, DC; and San Francisco, California.

The Brattle Group provides consulting and expert testimony in economics and finance to corporations, law firms and public agencies around the world.
