Admission Free up to 10pm
DUBLIN, October 1, 2010 - "O'zapft is" (it is tapped) was the call you could hear yesterday at 12
o'clock on the George's Dock in the Dublin Docklands. For the third time the
Oktoberfest opened its doors there. Up to the 10th of October, more
than 30 Bavarian bar maids and the brass band the "Mostlandstuermer" bring
Bavarian customs and a touch of the Munich Oktoberfest to Ireland. Several
stands and a big marquee were transported from Germany to Dublin and invite
people daily from 11h up to 1am in the morning (Saturdays from 10am till 1am,
Sundays 10am till 8pm) to take part in swaying to music, singing and just
joining in the celebrations.
Already on the first day more than 1000 Irish people celebrated the
famous Bavarian festival, which celebrates its second centenary in Munich
this year.
Admission is free up to 10pm, thereafter visitors can obtain an admission
wristband for 5EUR at the entrance to the festival platform. This voucher
includes a substantial meal at the value of 10EUR.
Partners to the Dublin Oktoberfest are Erdinger and Radio Q102.
