Freshly Tapped Beer, Hot Barbeque Chickens and Bavarian Fun Awaits up to 1,500 Visitors Daily.
DUBLIN, September 29, 2010 - On the 30th of September on the dot at 11am, the first Oktoberfest-barrel
will be tapped in Dublin's Docklands. Up to 1,500 visitors are invited to
enjoy Bavarian food and custom in the specially built marquee at George's
Dock daily.
"For the third year running, the Oktoberfest returns to the Docklands
bringing thousands of people to experience our own bit of Munich in Dublin.
The festival has become a highlight of the Dublin events calendar and puts
George's Dock on the map as a unique space for entertainment", said Loretta
Lambkin, Marketing Director Dublin Docklands Authority.
Not only beer but leather trousers and Dirndl are a substantial part of
the Bavarian Customs, which can be purchased for the perfect
Oktoberfest-Outfit in the George's Dockland. But be aware, when tying the
Dirndl-Apron: Whoever wears the bow on the right indicates that way that she
is married - the bow on the left means " I am still available".
By the way, beer - the German national beverage - is good for you - as
long as it is consumed in moderation. A German saying goes as follows: "One
beer is better than none, two beers are better than one, but four beers are
not twice as good as two beers."
The only drink in the world containing hops calms you down, has a
diuretic effect and is simply very pleasant. The substances have a bitter,
mildly soothing and appetizing effect. Hops helps to prevent cancer and has a
positive effect on the heart and the circulation system. Furthermore, beer is
regarded as one of the drinks with few calories - you hardly believe it:
200ml of apple juice have 96kcal; 200g low fat fruit yogurt 164kcal - 200 ml
beer only has 76kcal. So you can see, there is still a lot of room for a
charcoaled sausage or the other goodies, which are on offer on the Dublin
Oktoberfest.
Last but not least, beer is drink that excellently quenches the thirst.
Doctors recommend drinking two litres a day - mainly water, of course, well
beer consists of water up to 92%. Thus beer helps to balance your daily
consumption of fluids.
One litre beer in the traditional "Stein" costs 10 EUR, a "Schweinshaxe"
(roasted pork knuckle) you can get also for 10 EUR, Bavarian cosy atmosphere
is gratuitously.
Entrance is free on all days up to 10pm , thereafter you receive a
wristband for 10EUR, which entitles you to a voucher for a "substantial
meal".
