Campaign Invites Creative Community in Europe to Play Active Role in fight against poverty

AMSTERDAM, May 27, 2010 - "Unleash your creativity against poverty" is the theme of a Europe-wide
advertising competition launched today by the United Nations Regional
Information Centre in Brussels (UNRIC) and the Amsterdam office of Euro RSCG
4D. The heart of the campaign is a competition that invites citizens of 48
European countries (including professionals) to design an ad, which will be
used to promote the campaign.

To help spread the word, the UN and Euro RSCG 4D have nominated
high-profile jury members, including France's number one advertising man,
Jacques Seguela, Vice Chairman of Havas (parent company of Euro RSCG);
renowned graphic designer Neville Brody; and Piet Boon, the Dutch designer.

"I'm delighted to participate in this important campaign to help mobilize
the creative community. I find very interesting that this most recent
communication tool puts itself at the service of the most ancient curse:
poverty," stated Jacques Seguela.

"The aim of this digital campaign is to raise awareness of poverty issues
amongst European citizens, create a common project for all UN information
centres and to tap into the extraordinary pool of creativity in Europe," said
Afsane Bassir-Pour, Director of UNRIC in launching the campaign.

The winner will receive a cash prize of 5,000 Euros from the Spanish
Government at a special award ceremony to take place in Madrid in early
September.

While the competition is open to European citizens and residents,
everyone can be part of the campaign by voting for the finalists. The
competition is open until the end of June 2010, followed by a selection
process that will narrow entries down to 30 finalists. Winners will be chosen
by the jury of prominent European advertising experts, including Jacques
Seguela
, along with artists, designers and UN communication experts.
