Yonhap News Agency Today Launches Int'l Press Photo Contest Offering Largest Cash Prize of its Kind in World

SEOUL, South Korea, March 1, 2011 - Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's key news wire service, starts receiving
entries today (March 2) for the 'Yonhap International Press Photo Awards
(YIPPA) in support of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.'
Supported by the UN, the press photo contest begins today and photo
submissions will be accepted via the official website (www.yippa.net)
until May 31.

This contest is open to photojournalists worldwide including freelancers
who provide photographs for the press or photo agencies around the world.
Entrants can submit their entries in their chosen categories as there are
three entry categories determined to shed light on three major goals of the
UN: Common Prosperity of Human Beings (Improvement of human living and
wellbeing); Enhancement of International Peace; and Environmental Protection,
Measures against Climate Change. Each category is separated into singles and
stories. For singles, up to 10 photos can be submitted, and for stories, up
to five pieces (2-10 photos per piece) can be submitted.

YIPPA offers the biggest cash prize of its kind in the world: USD 30,000
for one grand prize winner, USD 10,000 for one UN Secretary General prize
winner, USD 30,000 for six gold prize winners (USD 5,000 per winner), USD
18,000
for six silver prize winners (USD 3,000 per winner), and USD 6,000 for
six bronze prize winners (USD 1,000 per winner).

Entry submission will be available for three months until May 31 and the
contest winners will be announced after a month-long judging process in June.
All award-winning photos will be displayed in August at the UN headquarters
in New York, USA, as well as in Seoul, Korea. All profits from the event will
