Celebrations for Mexico's Bicentennial

An Olympic Style Ceremony

MEXICO CITY, September 16, 2010 - The celebrations commemorating 200 years of independence bear the
signature of one of the biggest event organisers in the world - Marco Balich,
the President of K-events/Filmmaster Group (www.kevents.it,

This year, on the 15th of September, Mexico celebrated 200 years of
independence from Spanish rule.

For this occasion, the Mexican government decided to entrust the
production and creative direction of the celebrations to an internationally
renowned professional who is famous for having organised the splendid
ceremonies of the Turin Winter Olympics in 2006 and having directed the
renowned "Carnevale" of Venice; Marco Balich.

Together with executive producer Ric Birch, Marco Balich led an
international team of professionals and a creative team of both Mexican
nationals and international workers in Mexico City for ten months. This made
for a total of 1766 production staff and 7000 volunteers who together created
an unprecedented event with all the characteristics of a real Olympic
ceremony. "It was a great honour to been asked to organise such an important
event," said Marco Balich, "and we have tried to convey the strength of these
people by creating a unique ceremony full of emotion to send a great message
of hope to the whole country."

The celebrations started at 16:30 with the New Fire ceremony and were
followed by the big parade, made up of 27 floats, the largest of which was a
record 85 metres long. The parade passed through the city centre for 2.7km
until arriving at the large Zocalo Square. For this part of the ceremony,
6000 special effects and 3500 costumes were used, as well as 600 performers.

In Zocalo Square, the ceremony reached its climax with the most exciting
and incredible moments that left the 1.5 million people present and the 100
million spectators from all over the world with their mouths open. It was
truly a celebration of culture and strong roots thanks to 4 incredible
moments that were worthy of an Olympic ceremony: The Tree of Life, The
Colossus, Fly Mexico and "El Grito" (The Scream).

This was accompanied by a mass choreography of record proportions which
involved the 55,000 people present at the Square who were waiting for the
President of the Mexican Republic to appear for the "El Grito" ceremony, the
biggest and most spectacular ceremony ever held.
