Dawn of Golden Era for Gas Brings Energy Leaders Together to Debate EU Supply
By Gastech, PRNESunday, September 18, 2011
LONDON, September 19, 2011 -
Jean-Francois Cirelli, President of the world’s largest utility company, GDF SUEZ, will deliver a keynote speech at a major international energy summit in Paris this November that examines the future for European gas. Mr Cirelli will be supported by many other international energy chiefs as they aim to address key challenges facing the European gas business, including: “Where will Europe get its gas from and what will be the ‘drivers of supply’?”
Hosted this year by GDF SUEZ, The European Autumn Gas Conference will be held on the 15-16th November, and during the quarter century the summit has existed it has become regarded as the ‘review of the year’ for the European energy elite, continuing to influence and shape major new strategic proposals, pathways and national energy policies.
During two key leadership panel sessions major questions will be answered by a wealth of international leaders, including: Jean-Marie Dauger, Executive Vice President GDF SUEZ (and chief of their global gas business), key gas buyer and Board Member at E.ON Ruhrgas, Hans-Peter Floren, Total’s President of Gas & Power, Philippe Boisseau, ENI’s Chief Operating Officer Domenico Dispenza, BG Group’s European & Central Asian Executive Vice President Chris Finlayson, plus a special guest from Japan - Yuji Kakimi, Executive Managing Officer of one of the world’s largest purchasers of LNG - Chubu Electric Power.
During the summit the highly-influential speakers will examine whether Europe currently has sufficient interconnectivity and sympathetic energy regulation to enable gas to grow and flourish as a fuel, but also explore whether there has been a neglect of infrastructure investment by EU governments that should now urgently be addressed. Many speakers will also aim to get to the bottom of an issue that has long plagued the gas industry: how does it promote itself more effectively in comparison to often heavily-subsidised renewable energy sources, and get policy makers to acknowledge gas should be viewed as a long-term, ‘destination’ low-carbon fuel for the future that Europe cannot live without?
Welcoming 50 executive-level speakers and around 400 senior gas industry delegates, the next European Autumn Gas Conference in Paris will continue to drive future policy, influence new strategy and deliver a blueprint that the industry continues to rely upon as gas takes a driving seat as a key fuel for the future.
