DUBAI, August 17, 2011 -

In recent years The Gulf countries have seen great improvements in healthcare infrastructure and services thanks to a very strong and growing economy. However, the region is suffering from an increased sedentary lifestyle, resulting in a dramatic rise of chronic disease cases and related ailments in the younger generation.

The welfare and health of children is paramount for all healthcare practitioners and advocates. GCC health authorities are looking to dramatically improve the care of children by establishing healthcare facilities, increasing awareness about diseases and organising medical conferences to further the knowledge required about diseases.

In order to improve children’s healthcare it is important that leaders of the GCC health community come together and unite in reviewing current issues and recent advances to better children’s healthcare for the future.

This is the aim of the GCC Paediatric Summit, taking place at the Dusit Thani hotel in Dubai on 28th & 29th September 2011. Improving children’s quality of life by bringing together the regions elite in paediatric medical care.

The programme sees outstanding contributions from speakers such as Dr. Muna Al Kuwari, Director of Primary Healthcare for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Nawal Al Kaabi, Consultant and Head, Paediatric Infectious Disease, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and Dr. Aiman Rahmani, Consultant of Neonatology and Chairman of Paediatrics at Tawam Hospital. This is an exclusive chance to hear leaders of the field share their learning and experience on subjects such as ‘Revealing the role of innovative technologies in addressing neonatology concerns’ and ‘Overcoming key challenges in diagnosis and management of the most important paediatric disorders’.

Interactive panels will be held, allowing a unique and extremely rewarding opportunity for delegates to collaborate with key advisors, exploring health authority’s strategic approach to common paediatric and adolescent healthcare challenges. Panellists include Dr. Jennifer Moore, Section Head of Family and School Health at the Health Authority Abu Dhabi and Dr. Nahed AbdulKhaleq Monsef, Director of the Health Affairs Department at Dubai Health Authority.

This is a great opportunity to discuss concerns and share knowledge on present advances in selected Paediatric subspecialty areas, including, haematology, oncology, neurology, cardiology, neonatology, psychiatry and much more.

The two day summit will provide delegates with innovative knowledge and ideas in the field whilst scheduled networking periods allow invaluable contacts and relationships to be made.

Doaa Said, Event Director for the GCC Paediatric Summit said ‘We are very excited to be bringing together the best in children’s healthcare this year, with fantastic speakers and opportunities to network and discuss key issues we feel this year’s GCC Paediatric Summit will be a real success.’

This really is a chance for the regions pioneers of children’s healthcare to come together, learn, share and move forward with improving the lives of children in the Middle East.
