NEW YORK - Louise Blouin Media will partner with Sharjah’s Department of Culture and
Information, the host of the 9th edition of the Sharjah Biennial. Under the
Patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, ruler of Sharjah
and under the auspices of Biennial Director, HH Sheika Hoor al Qasimi,
overseen by renowned Curators Isabel Carlos and Tarek Abou El Fetouh and led
by Artistic Director Jack Persekian, the Sharjah Biennial launched in 1993 is
one of the most prominent cultural events in the Middle East.
ARTINFO.com, the art portal of international news, will feature
participating artists from the Sharjah Biennial as well as highlight events
and public programs that will take place during the Biennial. ARTINFO is the
online destination of Louise Blouin Media, the world’s leading cultural media
group with a mission in providing unparalleled access to the world of art and
culture.
The program of the 2009 Sharjah Biennial will run for eight weeks. It
will feature works from more than 50 artists from the Middle East and around
the world, participating an extensive exhibition program (’Provisions For The
Future’), as well as in a film program (’Past Of The Coming Days’).
“One of our main objectives with ARTINFO.com is to use culture as a
bridge to enable dialogue among the world’s diverse cultures,” said Ms.
Louise Blouin, the Chairman and CEO of LTB Holding, “because we recognize
that culture plays a vital role in global politics, diplomacy, and
economics.”
The Middle East Program of the Louise Blouin Foundation includes
educational and cultural exchange programs, exhibitions and seminars. The
Middle East is central to the Foundation’s ‘Culture Beyond Borders’ program,
where initiatives have included The Soldier’s Tale, an ambitious theater work
representing a cultural collaboration between Iraqi and European performers
co-produced by the Old Vic Theatre and the Motion Group, and Four
Generations, a cultural collaboration among leading Israeli and Palestinian
filmmakers, writers and historians. Currently under production, the project
is in partnership with the Film School of Tel Aviv University and the Royal
Jordanian Film Commission.
As part of future plans, Louise Blouin Media seeks to actively promote
and collaborate with partners on arts and cultural activities within the
Middle East. Louise Blouin Media has a great deal of coverage on Middle East
artists in all of its publications as well as on ARTINFO.com. MYARTINFO.com,
Louise Blouin Media’s global networking site where artists can explore and
evolve their network, also features an Arabic version.
