EDINBURGH, Scotland, June 24, 2010 - sQuidcard, the electronic money (eMoney) operator, today announces the
addition of sQuid eMoney on the National Library of Scotland's (NLS)
smartcards in Edinburgh.
From today library visitors and staff alike at the National Library of
Scotland will be able to top up their NLS library card with money online,
which they can use to pay for items in the library using the latest
contactless smart card technology. The card can be used at the library cafe
to buy a drink or snack, at the main registration desk and at the NLS shop to
pay for gifts and other items.
Paying with sQuid is quick and simple. Card holders can top up their
sQuid accounts online with money and then pay for small value items, without
the need to carry loose change. Transactions are very fast, secure, and their
sQuid account enables users to track their transactions and manage their
money online.
John Coll, Head of Access and Enquiries at the National Library of
Scotland said, "The addition of sQuid to the NLS card is a significant new
benefit. We are excited at the prospect of modernising and updating how we
work to benefit our staff as well as our visitors, by offering new services
like sQuid".
John Gallacher, Regional Manager for sQuid in Scotland says, "sQuid have
already successfully launched in Dundee, Dumfries and Galloway and North
Lanarkshire with the National Entitlement card, and are about to launch in
Aberdeen City. The addition of sQuid on to the NLS card is an exciting new
development for us and we look forward to working with them and benefiting
their visitors".
