Nexans, the worldwide leader in the cable industry, will
present at ADIPEC its full range of cabling solutions and umbilical cable
expertise, as well as its complete and reliable solutions for complex oil and
gas projects, onshore and offshore, topside and subsea. Solutions include its
environmentally friendly HYPRON range of cables; HV (high voltage)
underground and submarine cables of up to 550 kV; MV (medium voltage)
underground and submarine cables (including umbilicals); LV (low voltage)
underground and submarine cables; instrumentation cables; thermocouple
cables; communication cables (LAN cables and systems, underground and
submarine FO cables); and accessories.
Moreover, Nexans will demonstrate its ability to serve the
Middle East region, introducing its new plant that recently started
production in Qatar. Finally, the Group will present its commitment to
sustainable development through various global initiatives it has
implemented.
HYPRON(R): an environmentally friendly alternative to lead-sheathed
cables
HYPRON(R) is an environmentally friendly alternative to
lead-sheathed cables for onshore power, control and instrumentation
applications in the oil and gas industry.
The HYPRON(R) design offers exactly the same protection
against aggressive petrochemicals as traditional lead-sheathed cables, with
the added advantage of improved ease of handling, installation and
transportation costs thanks to its lower weight and smaller cross-section.
Generally HYPRON complies with IEC 60228 and meets other international
standards like the IEC 60502-1 for Low Voltage and BS EN 50288-7 for
instrumentation cables.
HYPRON has been fully tested to prove its suitability for a
wide variety of applications, including MV and LV power as well as control
and instrumentation, when exposed to aggressive chemicals as well as
temperatures ranging from -20 degreesC to +60 degreesC.
Nexans' presence in the Middle East
Nexans is represented in the Middle East by the New Qatar
International Company (QICC). In October, Nexans completed a major step in
the development of its joint venture in Qatar - QICC - with the start-up of
commercial production at the new cable plant in Mesaieed Industrial City
(around 40k m from Doha). This state-of-the-art plant employs more than 100
people and is expected to generate a volume of business of over $100 million
by 2011.
The new QICC plant is focused on the manufacture of low,
medium and low end high voltage power cables for energy infrastructure and
building projects, as well as special cables for the oil and gas sector. It
has a current total floor space of 19,000m2 on an overall plot of 70,000 m2,
and a strategic location close to a harbour that is being developed as the
largest in the Middle-East.
Moreover, two other Nexans plants based in Lebanon and Turkey
also serve oil and gas customers too.
Nexans' commitment to sustainable development
