Rory Bremner, renowned impressionist, comic genius and celebrity contestant on Strictly Come Dancing 2011, enthralled the audience at Get Qu?zzical, the annual fundraising quiz night for UK youth charity Get Connected. Around 300 corporate quizzers, with celebrity Brainiacsfrom top TV quiz shows, got connected with their inner knowledge and battled it out in aid of the national helpline service for children and young people. www.getconnected.org

Get Connected is the free, confidential helpline service for children and young people under 25 in the UK, who need help but don’t know where to turn. Helpline Volunteers helped over 18,700 young people in 2010-11 (over 50 young people every day!), across phone, email, text, Webchat and WebHelp 24/7, an online directory of 13,000+ trusted organisations.

Get Qu?zzical was held on 13th September at the stylish Floridita in London’s bustling West End, for the second year. With all proceeds going to Get Connected, Get Qu?zzical is a key fundraising event for the charity, this year making an outstanding £90,000!

In ambient 1930s splendour, guests quizzed, quibbled and quaffed, whetting their intellectual appetites with tasty questions. Rory Bremner, Quiz Master, entertained the audience with his comic genius, among whom were celebrities such as Cheryl Fergison, Heather in EastEnders, David Nashy Nash, the first-class Middlesex Cricketer, and Will Best, T4’s Summer Presenter.

Get Connected is celebrating 10 years of charity partnership with principle corporate supporter, The Carphone Warehouse. Accordingly, the quiz was well supported by the mobile industry, including The Carphone Warehouse, Best Buy, Samsung, Vodafone, HTC, Nokia, Everything Everywhere, and other organisations such as HH Global, CHI & Partners and HSBC.

Unique elements added to the excitement, such as an opportunity for teams to bid for a Brainiac, including the brightest Britain has to offer from favourite TV and radio shows: Mastermind, Brain of Britain, Eggheads and The Chase. Guests got tactical, buying jokercards to double their scores and killercards to sabotage competing teams. Blackberry Messengers emerged victorious, taking the title from last year’s winners Credit Suisse Asset Management.
