Utilities-Specific Program Expands to Include More Than 30 Sessions and Networking Events

Utility executives will gather at the upcoming Oracle OpenWorld conference, September 19 – 23, 2010 at Moscone Center in San Francisco, to share new ways to leverage Oracle applications, technology and systems that enable smart grid and other industry strategies.
In more than 30 sessions, demonstrations and networking events focused on utilities trends and applications, executives from Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), Gas Terra, Pacific Gas & Electric and Sempra Energy will discuss how they use Oracle to support their utility business strategies.
Also at Oracle OpenWorld, Oracle Utilities will host a panel discussion about best business practices at BGE, Oracle and Accenture for building the next-generation utility. BGE President and Chief Executive Officer Ken Defontes will explain how BGE is embracing this transformational time and managing rising customer demands, the massive surge of information, the impact of renewable energy sources on the smart grid, the green agenda, smart metering and more.
Oracle Utilities will also host a media roundtable on Monday, September 20th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Moscone 130 where executives will discuss some of the biggest smart grid challenges facing the utilities industry and how Oracle is prepared to help. Oracle executives will also provide an overview of new customer and product announcements. Further, attendees will learn about findings from Oracle’s recent surveys including "Smart Grid Challenges & Choices: Utility Executives’ Vision for the New Decade" and "Testing the Water: Smart Metering for Water Utilities."
