Frankfurt To Host World's Largest Pharmaceutical Services Events In 2011
By Ubm International Media, PRNESunday, June 27, 2010
AMSTERDAM, June 28, 2010 - Leading events organiser UBM International Media today announced that its
flagship CPhI Worldwide tradeshow will return to Frankfurt, Germany for 2011.
Along with co-hosted events - P-MEC Europe for equipment, machinery and
technology; ICSE for contract services and packaging; and BioPh Europe for
the biopharma sector - the world's leading pharma services industry events
will be held at Messe Frankfurt, from Tuesday 25 to Thursday 27 October.
UBM anticipates that the 2011 events will build on the momentum that CPhI
Worldwide has generated to date and continue to attract record levels of
attendees, as it has done year on year since its 1990 inception. With over
25,000 attendees, exhibitors, and vendors expected at the upcoming CPhI
Worldwide, ICSE, P-MEC and BioPh 2010 event in Paris (Villepinte, 5-7
October), UBM is confident that number will again be surpassed in 2011 in
Frankfurt
Full details of the 2011 events - the twenty-second CPhI Worldwide - will
be announced later this year. However, some highlights will include the
popular Breakfast Briefing seminars, which return for the fourth consecutive
year, in addition to the CPhI Innovation Awards and the Speakers' Corner
which will provide an extra meeting place between exhibitors and visitors.
CPhI Worldwide in Frankfurt will again feature the new, zoned layout
which is being introduced at this year's Paris events, designed to make it
easier for visitors to find the exhibitors they are looking for, giving more
logical on-site navigation and leaving visitors with 'more talking, less
walking' time. Zoning is already proving to be a popular initiative with
nearly 80 new exhibitors already signed up for Paris. The zones attracting
the most new exhibitors are the API zone and the General zone, both with over
25 new exhibitors, while each of the other zones-Intermediates, Fine
Chemicals, Excipients and Custom Manufacturing-will also feature first time
exhibitors.
Zoning will continue to be employed for the 2011 ICSE event, following
its successful introduction in 2010. The Contract Research Zone will feature
clinical trials, preclinical, Phase I-IV clinical trials and contract
research companies, while the Packaging zone, which has 36 dedicated
exhibitors in Paris, will feature a wide range of companies that provide
packaging solutions within various stages of pharmaceutical processing. In
response to market demand, ICSE Europe 2011 will also see the introduction of
a North American Pavilion.
P-MEC Europe already has 50 exhibitors signed up for 2010 and is expected
be a similar size to the record breaking 2009 event in Madrid. For 2011 the
event will continue to evolve, with its focus on instrumental analysis,
measuring and testing technologies, materials testing, quality control and
laboratory equipment.
Regarding the decision to return CPhI Worldwide to Frankfurt, Eliane van
Doorn, UBM International Media's Group Director for Pharma events commented,
"Frankfurt was the venue for the first ever CPhI Worldwide in 1990 and has
consistently proved popular among our exhibitors and visitors, given the
prominence of Germany in the global chemicals industry. With total sales of
euro 145.2 billion in 2009, Germany is ranked number one in Europe and number
four worldwide,* with leading fine chemicals companies such as BASF, Bayer
and Evonik Industries all ranking in the top twenty highest grossing
suppliers in the world."
Ms. Van Doorn continued, "Companies like these are the reason why Germany
has been considered a true powerhouse in the pharmaceutical and fine
chemicals industries for the last decade and why Frankfurt is an ideal host
city for the CPhI events cluster."
When the inaugural CPhI event was first hosted by Frankfurt in 1990, a
total of 250 visitors attended to meet with just 16 exhibitors. The events
were most recently held in Frankfurt in 2008 attracting a then record 25,000
attendees, with more than 1,700 exhibitors from over 60 countries.
