Giving Hands a Face-lift? Vascular Surgeon Tells How
By Dr. Al Rustom Center, PRNEFriday, July 2, 2010
DUBAI, July 4, 2010 - On Monday, 5 July 2010, prominent Vascular Surgeon Asad Riad
Shamma will be appearing in an interview on Dubai TV's medical programme
'VITAMIN with Dr. Ali Singl' to talk about hand beautification through a new
technique he has invented in vein surgery. During the one-hour programme, Dr
Shamma will talk in detail about this revolutionary yet simple type of
surgery as well as techniques to remove unwanted veins on the face and around
the eye area. A film recording of the procedure (performed at Dr Al Rustom
Medical and Day Surgery Center in Dubai) will also be aired during the
interview. The program will come on at 10:30pm Dubai time (GMT+4), 9:30 pm
Beirut time.
Background
In 2001, Dr. Shamma invented a revolutionary method to
eliminate protruding, lumpy veins of the hands and forearms. Through his
ongoing work at clinics in Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Holland, Spain
and, soon Qatar, Dr Shamma has helped many women seeking to eliminate
unwanted veins to regain the beauty and youthfulness of their hands . His
simple, in-office laser-based procedure has been adopted by the majority of
centers around the world since its introduction in April 2001, and his work
has been published in the prestigious Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery.
Shamma's new treatment involves the use of laser optics to
treat venous abnormalities and smooth the bulges using a laser fiber that
lets deeper veins take over. It is a simple, incision-less procedure that is
performed in-office with local anesthesia and, according to Shamma, yields
excellent and safe results. There is no down time after the procedure and the
patient can resume her normal activities.
The network of veins on the back of the hand is covered by a
layer of fat and generally thick non-transparent skin, making these veins
largely invisible. Genetic factors, loss of fat around the veins, thinning
and aging of the skin, exposure to the sun and health problems are all
factors that make hand and forearm veins more pronounced, lumpy-looking and
dark.
Shamma's pioneering vein treatments will now be available at
the Royal Medical Centre in Qatar, while continuing to provide same in Dubai
(Al Rustom Medical and one Day Surgery Center), Beirut, Madrid, Marbella and
Landgraaf.
