- Energy Savings in Winter and Summer for a Smaller Ecological Footprint
Currently, Luxasolar Clear View has already outfitted some 500 buildings in Europe with its sun-blocking, energy-saving window foil. In summer, buildings equipped with Luxasolar record temperature drops of up to 10 degrees C, reflecting the sun’s heat outwards. In winter, the heat generated is reflected back into the room, which provides average energy savings of up to 25%, depending on the type of glass.
Luxasolar is the perfect Kyoto solution for anyone without an air conditioning or cooling system. And when you combine air conditioning with Luxasolar, you will see a spectacular reduction in your energy bill of up to 30% on average in the months of May to October. This was the case for the Hilton Hotel in Vienna, where 1,000 msquared of window foils have been installed, good for annual savings of 230,000 kWh, and an annual reduction of 72,000 kg in CO2 emissions. After installing Luxasolar, the Hilton Hotel Vienna recorded temperature drops of 9.6 degrees C. Bernhard Botlik, Director of the Hilton Hotel Vienna: “Worldwide, Hilton Hotels attach great importance to protecting the environment. The ‘We care’ Hilton programme was launched in 2001, in order to put environmentally friendly measures into practice. Hotel guests are paying more and more attention to environmentally-friendly rooms and are selecting their hotels on this basis. Thanks to Luxasolar, we can further position ourselves as trendsetters in the field of environmentally-friendly facility management.” Luxasolar(R) works like a filter. Radiant heat up to approx. 22 degrees C is allowed to pass through, and above this temperature the sun’s heat is filtered out. The higher the temperature, the greater the temperature drop that Luxasolar(R) provides.
6,000 msquared of windows have been coated with the foil at the French headquarters of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in Marly-le-Roi. In winter, the average temperature rose by 3.5 degrees C (4.4 degrees at night and 2.6 degrees during the day). Eric Andrieu, Safety, Hygiene and Environment Manager at GSK: “The impact is enormous because every rise or fall per degree Celsius sets an enormous system of machinery in motion which regulates the heating or cooling to an acceptable thermal comfort level. Thanks to Luxasolar, we have saved 45,000 euros in gas and electricity annually, which has resulted in a considerable contribution to our environmentally friendly ‘Climate Change’ programme, since the foil keeps the heat out during the summer and keeps it in during the winter.”
Luxasolar Clear View is currently the European market leader in the field of energy-saving window foil and offers an innovative and environmentally friendly solution for climate control and facility management. The return on investment is an average of 2 to 3 years. Our window foil consists of high-quality laminated polyester layers applied to the glazing from the inside, while maintaining optimal visual transparency, hence the name ‘Clear View’. What’s even more significant is that it keeps infrared heat rays out by up to 93% and lowers the temperature by up to 10degreesC. 99% of UV rays are blocked, which means there is no more discoloration of carpeting, furniture, art works, etc. Luxasolar can be installed on any type of glass, even on angled glazing.
